Editing software

 What I'm doing

Today we were instructed to find video editing software that allows us the ability to lay multiple tracks, separate audio from clips, and so on.

Research process

The research portion of this mini assignment was rather simple, I searched the web for free web-based editors and I compiled them into a top 3 where I cross-examined them to find what suited me.

Top 3:

For my top three, I had Clipchamp, open-shot, and Filmora. I chose these three because I actually have a lot of experience with these editors from making youtube videos for fun and also PSA's for my school's morning announcements and events. I judged all of these on the basis that they allow me to add multiple tracks, separate audio, team collaboration, and I could use it anywhere.

Final decision

The editor I decided upon is Clipchamp. I have a lot of experience with this application as it would be the editor I've used the most in the past for school work and personal use. Furthermore, Clipchamp offers what is called a team mode where multiple people can be assigned to a "Team" where everyone can work on the project simultaneously. Clipchamp can also be accessed from the web, so wherever there is a computer available so is Clipchamp. Clipchamp meets every requirement and then some while also being extremely simple and free at that.

Reflection

After choosing this editing software I couldn't be happier with my decision. So far we've only done one editing project that required me to use the editor and I must say it came out pretty nice and it was easy to do.
