                          Cinematography

Cinematography is the art and technological side of photography in films. Cinematography is the camera work we see in a movie, when you're watching a film each shot and how it was done can be considered as cinematography.

What does cinematography do?

Cinematography is responsible for giving a shot the proper look lighting, framing, and color. Cinematography is what gives life to certain shots by choosing just the right angle that allows the shot to have life and meaning. This is done by someone called the cinematographer who strictly focuses on things such as composition, the lens of the camera, the light around it, and the shot size. There are many components to cinematography as there is a lot you can do with just 1 camera. These components include Camera angles, shot types, and camera movement.

Camera angles

Camera angles refer to the position and angle of the camera before taking a shot. We determine this by looking at where the shot was taken and where it was taken at

Shot types

A shot type refers to the many different ways in which a shot can be taken. The most popular shot type would be the close-up.

Camera movement

Camera movement refers to the movement which the camera makes in order to take the shot, for instance, a certain scene may require the camera to move inward.

How I feel about cinematography

Since the beginning, I understood with cinematography was, however, I didn't particularly find any interest in it. Once we began our mini-project (Taking a shot of an object and using mise-en-scene to bring it to life) I started to notice I actually do enjoy cinematography. Furthermore, shortly after finishing our section on cinematography, I was able to notice them in the film which helped me understand the intended message by the filmmakers.
